Ph.D. theses:
To enter the Ph.D. program, you must contact a research group and find a potential advisor who must provide you with a thesis topic and appropriate funding. There are several funding sources, including:
- government grants;
- grants from other organizations (CNRS, INRIA, Digiteo, etc.);
- research contracts secured by the research groups;
- scholarships from the country of origin for foreign students.
Post-docs:
Research groups may receive funding for post-doctoral students, typically for 6 months up to a year. The post-doctoral research topics are usually posted by the research groups on their web sites and through various mailing lists. CNRS and INRIA post their available positions on a web site during the recruiting campaign, typically between February and May : CNRS post-docs, INRIA post-docs.
Internships:
Many research groups have open positions for internships, usually at the Master's level. Available internships are usually posted on the research groups' web sites or on the Master's web sites. See, for example, the web site for the Computer Science Master's program and the web site for the Computer Science Teaching Department.
Contract engineers:
Research groups may hire engineers on their contracts, for periods typically between 6 months and 2 years. These positions are announced on the research group's web sites on through mailing lists.
Visiting scientists:
LRI hosts many visiting scientists each year, for periods ranging from a few days to several months. Visiting scientists must be a member of a research organization, either in France or abroad. They must have contacted a research group prior to their visit, and they must have received an official letter of invitation signed by the director of LRI.
