Niklas Elmqvist is a postdoctoral researcher funded by Microsoft Research in the Aviz team of INRIA at the Université Paris-Sud in Paris, France. Previously he was a Ph.D. student at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, where he received his Ph.D. in December 2006. Active in the research fields of information visualization and human-computer interaction in general, Niklas Elmqvist specializes in as diverse topics as graph visualization, occlusion management in 3D environments, and HCI for computer games. He has published in most of the major conferences in his areas of research and is an active participant of the research community in his field. He is a member of the IEEE and the ACM.
