Wanyu "Abby" Liu, Ph.D. student in the HCC group at LRI and at Telecom, was awarded the first prize for her work on "BIGnav: Information Theory meets Human-Computer Interaction".

The STIC Graduate School Ph.D. Award recognizes the best scientific result (paper, software, etc.) of a graduate student.

Abby was awarded this prize for her article "BIGnav: Bayesian Information Gain for Guiding Multiscale Navigation", which also received a Best of CHI Award at the ACM CHI conference. (Short video)

Abby is co-advised by Olivier Rioul (Telecom), Michel Beaudouin-Lafon (LRI) and Yve Guiard (LRI & Telecom). Her thesis explores the use of the tools of information theory to better understand and improve human-computer systems. Her Ph.D. is funded by Labex Digicosme.

Yannis Manoussakis passed away

We have just learned of the death of Yannis Manoussakis, Professor at the University of Paris-Saclay, on Saturday June 5.

He was the leader of the GALaC team and had been for many years director of the LRI, we lose a friend and a dear colleague.
