Résumé :
Stringology is an area within the computer science that deals
with string and sequence processing. Data compression is another
area focusing on efficient storage of data. We discuss the
interconnection between these areas over the last few years.
New technology in biology produces a huge amount of data that needs
to be stored and searched -- a big challenge for computer science
that requires cooperation between Stringology and Data Compression.
Two approaches to this challenging task are described.
