Biologically Relevant Algorithms and Softwares for Efficient RNA Structure Comparison

The purpose of this project is to provide relevant and efficient tools for the RNA comparison problem that is essential in RNA bioinformatics.
The project includes three original parts: the design of sound combinatorics models (based on graph and tree theory) along with efficient algorithms, the constitution of annotated benchmark sets for evaluation and validation on real biological problematics, and the development of freely-distributed softwares, as well as appropriate visualization facilities. In the end, this work should provide valuable tools which could become essential for the RNA community in the next coming years.
This project proposal relies on a close multidisciplinary cooperation between four partners that have a strong expertise in RNA algorithmics and biology.
